On May 25, 2026, Pope Leo XIV released his first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas (On Safeguarding the Human Person in the Time of Artificial Intelligence).¹ Signed on May 15—the anniversary of the publication of Rerum Novarum—the encyclical addresses an increasingly urgent challenge for our time: protecting human dignity within a social and economic environment systemically shaped by artificial intelligence (AI).
